Bocana
Bocana is Steve Webster and Emilie-Claire Barlow
Multiple Juno Winners Webster and Barlow have collaborated on two of Barlow’s albums; “Clear Day”, which won best Vocal Jazz Album and garnered a best producer nominations for the duo, the critically acclaimed “Lumières d’hiver” as well as Barlow's James Taylor cover project (The JT Project).
During the making of “Lumières d’hiver” Webster’s relentless creativity produced a cross current of work that resulted in a dozen new song ideas which became the basis of “Bocana”. Emilie-Claire was inspired to bring her vocal mastery and arranging skills to these nascent works pushing them forward to completion.
The Bocana vibe could be described as melodic Chill-Lounge-World-Electro-Pop. Drawing inspiration from artists like Imogen Heap, Bonobo, Blackmill, Céu, Roberta Sa with additional influence from Steely Dan and Pet Metheny. Trippy electronics, rich vocal tapestries, combined with sensual Brazilian grooves; the duo's music will appeal to those who enjoy the Jazztronic and Lounge vibe but crave a deeper more melodic musical foundation. Once again stretching her vocal and musical horizon, Bocana offers listeners yet another view of Emilie-Claire's rich musical life.
All music is produced, arranged, performed, recorded, mixed and mastered by the duo.
